ATS (Applicant Tracking System) Tracking

Updated 27 March, 2020

ATS (Applicant Tracking System) Tracking allows you to track candidates who have applied to your jobs through a specific source. If tracking is set up properly, the original source of a candidate will be correctly associated with your Applicant Tracking System dashboard.

Different Methods of ATS Tracking:

Automatic Tracking

This is when a job seeker is redirected from Glassdoor to your ATS to apply for one of your open job requisitions, Depending on the ATS, there will be specific process to set up tracking.

Here is an example of how automatic tracking works:

  1. Job seeker finds your jobs on Glassdoor.
  2. Job seeker reads job description and clicks on "Apply Now".
  3. They will be redirected to your ATS to apply.
  4. Once they have completed this application process without leaving or exiting the page, Glassdoor should be listed as the source of this applicant within your ATS dashboard.
Benefits
  • Accurate reporting of candidates who are coming directly from Glassdoor.
  • Little to no additional tracking configuration is required.
Limitations
  • Setting up tracking for Applicant Tracking Systems ranges from simple to more complex. Regardless, our Technical Services team will be able to work with you and your ATS representative to set up tracking.

Integrated Apply

This is a specific ATS integration that enables job seekers to apply to your jobs directly on Glassdoor. The information input will by job seekers will be automatically parsed to your ATS dashboard for your review. We have a few ATS Partners that have set up this integration. Note: There are still some set-up processes that may be required with your ATS.

Here is an example of how API Apply
tracking works:

  1. Job seeker finds your jobs on Glassdoor.
  2. Job seeker reads job description and clicks on "Easy Apply".
  3. They will be asked general questions (name, resume, phone number), but may also include screener questions that were sent over by your ATS.
  4. Once they fill out the application, Glassdoor should be listed as the source of this application with your ATS dashboard.
Depending on the ATS that you have partnered with, there will be specific ways to set up tracking via Glassdoor or the ATS. See our ATS (Applicant Tracking System) Partners article for more information. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to your account team. Otherwise, you can Contact Us.

Benefits
  • Accurate reporting of candidates who are coming directly from Glassdoor.
  • Quick and easy application flow for job seekers which may require as little as two clicks.
  • Potential for higher conversion rates as job seekers will not need to leave the site to apply for jobs.
  • Applications sent through this process will automatically be parsed back to your ATS for review.
Limitations
  • Integrated Apply is limited to certain ATS.
  • Some screener questions may not be copied over to Glassdoor, including questions that require an individual to upload additional files aside from a resume or cover letter.

Self Select

User-added imageUser-added image

Self Select is an attribution system where job seekers need to select from a "How did you hear about us?" drop-down menu during the application process. Depending on your ATS, you may not ahve the option of using Automatic Tracking or Integrated Apply, therefore Self Select is the only option to track candidates.

Here is an example of how Self Select tracking works:

  1. Job seeker finds your jobs on Glassdoor.
  2. Job seeker reads job description and clicks on "Apply Now".
  3. They will get redirected to your ATS to apply.
  4. While going through the application process, they may reach the section that includes the drop-down for "How did you hear about us?" Job seeker will then select from the list.
  5. Once they fill out the application, if Glassdoor was selected by the candidate, Glassdoor should then be listed as the source of this application with your ATS dashboard.
If you would like to switch to using an Email Apply option, see our What is Easy Apply? article.

Benefits
  • Still maintain the ability to track Glassdoor attribution.
Limitations
  • Unreliable tracking as job seekers may select incorrect sources.
  • May not provide an accurate representation of where candidates are coming from.
